We Can Help Boys with Conduct Disorder
We can help your son if he struggles with Conduct Disorder, a condition of recurring and unrelenting violations of social norms and the rights of others. Does he display physical or verbal aggression, bullying towards people and animals, dishonesty, truancy, destruction of property or stealing? The term refers to the distinction between a teenager’s “typical” acting out and major misbehavior.
We’re Here to Help Your Son Who Has Conduct Disorder
If he doesn’t get help, your boy might find himself in trouble with school or even legal authorities. He might be held responsible for behavioral actions that are out of his control.
Treatment primarily centers on altering the behavior patterns that reinforce bad behavior. There is no distinctly acceptable resolution to Conduct Disorder, but many programs include training parents in effectively disciplining and rewarding good behavior in an attempt to break the cycle of bad actions leading to more bad actions. Unlike other disorders, Conduct Disorder therapy can typically include the parents along with the boy.
Conduct Disorder is thought to be a possible precursor to Antisocial Personality Disorder. Studies have indicated a preliminary link between different brain functions and lowered levels of compassion shown by those experiencing conduct disorders.
Pine Mountain Academy – Offering a Second Chance at a New Life
Our 15-month, bible-based, therapeutic curriculum is designed in such a way as to emphasize introspective thinking along with our Christian counseling. Tailored for the individual student, the work requires our students to scrutinize areas of their lives in need of change,
Boys come to us in various states of meaninglessness, having developed dysfunctional behaviors and attitudes to satisfy their need for security and significance. As loving parents, you have explored every option as you’ve tried to help your son who has been compromised as a result of his destructive choices. Once having looked to you for direction and approval, he is now following a negative peer group down the wrong path.
Guided by the pastoral counselors on our staff, Group Counseling (in addition to Individual Counseling) occurs on a regular basis at Pine Mountain Boys Academy. This time is an opportunity to let students come to grips with commonly faced problems.
The Teen Challenge program provides a safe haven for adolescents who have filled the emptiness in their hearts with devastating consequences in its place; our residential school provides an opportunity for each student to refocus and evaluate his life decisions. We narrow distractions to provide an environment favorable to learning at Pine Mountain Boys Academy. Students won’t have access to email or social networking sites, instead focusing on their secondary education within our rigorous, interactive, self-paced curriculum. Alpha Omega Academy is a fully accredited, high quality program, created exclusively for Christian schools.
Our Aftercare program will re-establish your son’s trust, along with conflict resolution, specific responsibilities and educational goals for his return to your home.
Our environment balances discipline with personal responsibility to create a positive peer element, nurturing students who’ll receive Pine Mountain Academy’s crucial lessons of patience, diligence, teamwork, work ethics and motivation.
