Boys with Reactive Attachment Disorder
Consistent care of a baby’s physical and emotional needs enables him to learn to bond and, devoid of that (i.e.: due to transient foster care situations or adoption), he may have difficulty in establishing any close bonds. We can help your son if he suffers with Reactive Attachment Disorder (or RAD), a rare but serious condition in which he has been unable to form a healthy emotional attachment with his mother (or primary caregiver).
There are two types of RAD (sometimes also known as Radical Attachment Disorder). One may find him removed, unemotional, self-conscious, or introverted. With the other kind, he might be inappropriately familiar or demonstrative with total strangers.
We’re Here to Help Your Son
A stable and nurturing environment (such as what you’ll find at Pine Mountain) is essential in order for your boy to learn to create healthy attachments. Family therapy may be critical to his treatment for Reactive Attachment Disorder, encouraging communication between you and him. By giving you specific (parenting) skills that can help heal this Disorder, he can steer clear of rising social and behavioral issues later in life, and instead, go on to enjoy healthy relationships with you and with others.
Pine Mountain Boys Academy – Offering a Second Chance at a New Life
Many bright young men have been compromised as a result of destructive choices. Boys, once excelling at academics, now have failing grades. Once athletic or artistically gifted, now showing no interest. Who once looked to the family for direction and love, now looks to a negative peer group for approval. You have exhausted every option in your search to help your son – medication, counseling, location changes, and it might be time now for Pine Mountain Boys Academy. Our 15-month, bible-based, therapeutic curriculum is developed to highlight introspective thinking and works hand-in-hand with our Christian counseling. Customized for each student, boys are encouraged to examine areas of their lives that are in need of change.
In addition to Individual Counseling, Group Counseling occurs on a regular basis, guided by the pastoral counselors on staff. This time is utilized to allow students an opportunity to grapple with and resolve commonly faced issues.
The Teen Challenge program provides a safe haven for adolescents who have sought to fill the void in their hearts, only to reap destructive consequences in its place. Our boarding school provides an opportunity for each student to refocus and assess his life decisions. While at Pine Mountain, distractions are limited and we provide an environment conducive to learning; students do not have access to email or social networking sites as they work on their secondary education in our accredited, private school with a rigorous, high quality, self-paced curriculum created exclusively for Christian schools.
Our Aftercare program will re-establish your son’s trust, as well as specific responsibilities, conflict resolution, and spiritual commitments for his return to your family setting.
Our environment balances discipline with personal responsibility to create a positive peer culture, nurturing students who’ll have been taught indispensable lessons of strong work ethics, teamwork, and determination. Your son will leave Pine Mountain Boys Academy making constructive decisions, having true confidence in the unique young man he is, and with a vision for his positive future.
